High Energy Emission Of The Quasar 3C 273
Abstract
The on-line database (http://obswww.unige.ch/3c273/) collects 30 years of observations of the quasar 3C 273 up to 1998.
In the last years the multiwalength observation program of this object continued accumulating a large amount of data at different frequencies. In particular, observations by BeppoSAX, RXTE, XMM, INTEGRAL, SWIFT allow now a detailed study of the X-ray and soft gamma-ray emission of one of the most studied AGN. Beside the update of the on-line database, we present here the study of the high energy emission of 3C 273, we discuss the strong flux and spectral variability of this object observed in a series of flares and in a secular evolution of the source towards a softer spectral state. We correlate the X-ray emission with the emission at other wavelengths, in order to shed light on the physics of this complex AGN, studying its properties through different epochs and states, as for example during its historic jet-emission minimum of early 2004.- Publication:
